The North Georgia Dental Society (NGDS) is a local chapter of the National Dental Association (NDA), the largest and oldest organization of minority oral health professionals in the world. The NGDS was formed in 1913 as a forum for practicing African American dentists in the Metro Atlanta area and surrounding counties of North Georgia.

The National Dental Association promotes oral health equity among people of color by harnessing the collective power of its members, advocating the needs of and mentoring dental students of color, and raising the profile of the profession in our communities. The purpose of the North Georgia Dental Society is to encourage the cultivation and promotion of the art and science of dentistry, to promote the dental health of the public and to do any and all things advisable, desirable, or necessary in the interest of the dental profession as well as uphold the mission of the National Dental Association, our parent organization.
