Scholarship Program – We award several scholarships per year towards GA Residents attending an accredited Dental School (majority of awardees attend Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, Howard University or Medical College of GA)

• Colgate Bright Smiles Bright Futures Dental Van – Many of our members volunteer on a monthly basis on the Dental Van and provide dental screenings to children.

• Annual Dr. A.B. Cooper Seminar – Sponsored by the NGDS, this all day seminar is geared towards Dental/Medical Professionals and provides them the opportunity to earn approximately 7.0 hrs of Continuing Education Credits.

• Six Monthly Meetings – These meetings provide the membership the opportunity for members to receive a short lecture and CE Credit as well as a chance to meet and discuss the business of the NGDS.

• Local Health Fairs – Many of our members are involved in local health fairs sponsored by Churches, Civic organizations, Schools, etc.

• Increasing Diversity in Dentistry (IDID Program) – A program established by the National Dental Association Foundation (NDAF). The NGDS supports, mentors and participates with activities that are held with the Atlanta University Center Students (Clark Atlanta, Morehouse, Spelman) who participate in the program.

• Meharry/MCG Dental Student Mentoring Program – Members participating in this program have been paired up with one student attending either one of these dental schools and are serving as their mentors.

• Oral Cancer Awareness Screening Event (2011) – This inaugural event was held at the Mall at West End (Atlanta, GA). Free oral cancer screenings were performed, educational materials were passed out to the public.

• Dentistry from the Heart/Dental Care Days – Several members of the NGDS have sponsored these events in their individual offices. Other NGDS members have volunteered their time to help make the events a success.

• Georgia Mission of Mercy (2011,2013) – Several members of the NGDS volunteered their dental services during the Georgia Dental Association’s Two day, Free Dentistry event in Woodstock, GA.

• Southwest Georgia Dental Mission – Several NGDS Members traveled to Southwest Georgia (Ashburn, GA) to provide Free Dental Care to citizens over the course of 3 days. This event was in conjunction with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Ashburn, GA and the Georgia Dental Society.

• Foreign Dental Missions – Throughout the years, NGDS members have participated in Dental Mission trips. The membership assisted these doctors in the form of donations (supplies and monetary donations).

• Community Run/Walk – The NGDS has participated in several 5K Run/Walks in the Greater Metro Atlanta Area. We also raised money for the respective organizations (i.e. Run for a Smile, Atlanta Food Bank).
